Encaustic Paintings

Encaustic painting of birds in a colorful sky

My work pairs modern materials with the ancient technique of encaustic painting, where beeswax, resin and pigment are layered to produce a luminous surface that captures and reflects light. The translucency of the wax creates layers of information, like the sediment of time, while stirring the senses of sight, smell, and touch.

Encaustic paintings are extremely durable and will not deteriorate or darken with age.

  • Do not varnish the surface or protect it with glass. Let the wax breathe.

  • The surface may collect dust and the sheen will dull a little over time, but this is normal. To clean and shine the surface simply buff it lightly using a soft, lint free cloth.

  • Always protect the surface and edges of the painting when moving it.

  • Although the surface is completely dry, encaustic paintings can be scratched, gouged, or chipped if handled roughly. Be kind to your art.

Mixed Media Paintings

Mixed media painting of leaves and flowers, Healing Nature

These works on canvas are created with lightfast pigments and should remain vibrant for many years to come. The surface is sealed with cold wax, which will protect your painting from dust and discoloration.

  • Do not varnish the surface or protect it with glass. Let the wax breathe. If you wish to frame it, you can treat it like an acrylic or oil painting.

  • If you need to clean the surface simply wipe it lightly using a soft, lint free cloth

  • Always protect the surface and edges of the painting when moving it.

  • Although the surface is completely dry, these paintings can be scratched, stretched, or torn if handled roughly. Be kind to your art.
