commissions

I love the opportunity to create custom paintings like those you see here. They are a combination of your ideas and my creative interpretation, bringing to life an image that delights and inspires you.

I’m happy to discuss your ideas, or to help you determine what might be perfect for your space. Multiple paneled pieces are a magnificent way to create a unique focal point and fill large walls with color and movement.

A NEW CELEBRATION!

Recently I had the pleasure of making a commissioned painting to celebrate a friend’s wedding. For this piece I carefully chose and laid out flower petals, leaves, and little blooms from the ceremony to create a flowing design across two canvases.

A VIEW FOR TWO

This was such a joy to paint! Joanne is an enthusiastic art collector and has purchased my work before, but had never commissioned a painting. It was fun to take her through my process.

Joanne says:

“This is our summer view of Lake Washington from our dining room. When our cat, Lucky Stripes, sees those crows on the lamp post he gets his hunter meow on. Thank you, Linda, for this beautiful piece! We will enjoy it for years to come.”

Encaustic, Oil, Ink, Paper, Watercolor on panel. Commission from the collector’s own photograph

I just finished this commission for one of my collectors in Hawaii who wanted to celebrate the ocean in its many forms. It’s called Ka ʻuhane o Ke Kai (The Spirit of the Sea), encaustic and mixed media, painted on three 24 x 24 in. cradled panels.

The Promise of a New Day
Encaustic, photograph, oil, pastel on panel, 14 x 11 in.

This painting was commissioned as a surprise Christmas present for one of my previous collectors. Her husband gave me free reign to choose the images and spirit of the painting, and I immediately knew exactly what I wanted to create for them.

Encaustic painting of Lanikai Beach in Hawaii

Magical Mokuluas
Encaustic, shellac, and oil on panel, 24 x 30 in.

This is a painting of Lanikai Beach in Hawaii, where I grew up. This place holds many fine memories through college and beyond. Created for a special collector and friend, who has joined me on this beach many times.
