Creating with encaustic is a dream come true for painters who also enjoy using other media. The wax-based paint comes in beautiful colors that you can use to easily add depth and texture to your paintings.

It's one of the most forgiving mediums available, allowing you to "undo" virtually anything, giving you the freedom to be fearless and let your creativity flow. No painting or drawing experience is necessary for this class; just an adventurous spirit!

We’ll collage with wax instead of glue to incorporate thin papers, fabrics, and threads. I’ll share my technique for creating collage materials embellished with my favorite “instant stamps” that you'll create during class using impressions from natural materials and everyday objects.

Encaustic paint can also be paired with a wide variety of materials including pastels, graphite, and artist crayons so there will be time for you to explore that too.

All basic supplies are included except your choice of Encaustibord or wood panels, but feel free to bring your favorite thin papers and rubber stamps with you too. Don't worry if you haven't tried anything like this before. I'll have lots of materials available for you to play with, and you can work in any style you choose.

Even if you're an experienced encaustic painter, there's always something new to experiment with. Come with an open mind and ready to create exciting work in a fun, supportive atmosphere.
