10 am - 4 pm daily
Location: Vancouver, WA
All levels welcome/All supplies included
Do you have a drawer full of papers you can’t bear to throw away? Old book pages, handwritten notes, maps, patterned tissue, scraps you save “for something”? This weekend, they get their moment.
Along with your treasures, I’ll have a variety of collage materials ready for you. A community table will invite you to share what you’ve brought, and throughout our time together, we’ll exchange materials and ideas while building long-lasting connections.
No experience with encaustic is needed, just curiosity and a few favorite materials to share. I’ll guide you through the basics of working with wax, and you’ll leave with 2-3 finished pieces and a head full of ideas.
All panels, wax, brushes, paper, and other materials will be provided for you, including two 8 x 10 panels. You’re welcome to bring additional panels, or different formats of similar size.
WHAT TO BRING
Bring a handful of things you love, and plan to share them with the group on the Treasure Table. Think small and flat:
Papers: book pages, sheet music, maps, handwritten letters, ledger paper, tissue paper, napkins, wrapping paper, postage stamps, flat bits of text or numbers
Printed ephemera: vintage photos or copies of photos, tickets, labels, receipts, magazine clippings
Handmade papers: anything you’ve painted, stamped, or printed with watercolor, ink, or gouache that you’re ready to cut up (no acrylic, thinner papers are better)
Textiles and fibers: thin natural fabric scraps (cotton, linen, silk), lace, cotton thread, string
Natural finds: dried flowers, thin leaves (flat is best)
Small embellishments: beads, keys, buttons, earrings, charms
